Full Gorilla Trip Itinerary
Wake up at 3:00 am, prepare yourself like showering and having an early breakfast at the hotel. The hotel staffs will serve you breakfast because they would have been informed about your early departure. At 3:30 am, the driver will pick you up to leave Kigali for Uganda. The transfer from Rwanda to Bwindi or Mgahinga in Uganda is covered within about 4 hours as you go via Cyanika border point. You will arrive in Bwindi forest at around 7:30 am, just about 30 minutes to the pre-gorilla trekking briefing at the park offices in Bwindi. After briefing and allocation of a gorilla family, you will then walk into the forest looking for the mountain gorillas. The trek may last several hours basing the actual location of endangered primate species on that day. Upon seeing the gorillas, you will have one full hour with them in the jungle.
During the 60-minute stay, you will look at them critically as they eat, play and move around. You will also have the freedom to take gorilla photos but with no flash in the camera. Camera flashes tend to irritate or scare the gorillas. As you are with the endangered species, try to follow the rules and guidelines as per the briefing before the hike. You will then descend to the starting point, enter your vehicle and drive back to the park office. At this office, you will pick your gorilla trekking certificate and then transfer back to Kigali for your evening return flight.
