The Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC), also popularly known as the Uganda National Theater is situated at Dewinton road in Kampala is an important institution that came into existence since 1959 with the act of parliament of Uganda. It was aiming at providing a cultural theater for acting out arts, exhibition space and a stimulator to local artistic activities. The National Cultural center is divided into two main spots that is to say the National theatre and the Nommo gallery. There are various exhibitions carried out by both native Ugandan and international artists. Things to enjoy at the National theater include movie screenings among others together with an onsite coffee shop that serve African cuisine. The resident craft village store is a rewarding place to encounter.

Nommo Gallery

This displays to you the African craft village, the place consists of women’s group initiative where they gather and market their art and craft products. It is situated on plot 15 Buganda Road; the center initially acted as marketing and information center for local craft producers to interface with clients. The facility embraces textile fabrics, ceramics, artistic metal fabrications, wood carvings and carpentry and a range of other handmade products. These include; African ornaments, jewelry, compound feature items, Centre pieces, office ornaments and decorations and interior decorations.

Africa crafts village

There are  variety of different  art galleries local markets found within  Kampala city, these include; Afriart Gallery Limited, AKA Gallery, Amani crafts shop, Karibu Art gallery and studio, Magima Art Gallery, Makerere University Art Gallery, MishMash, Nyanzi Art studio, The Art spot, Uganda Art gallery, Ujuzi Art Studios and Umoja Art Gallery.
